Macro Photography
I can honestly say, I never expected to love, let alone get into this branch of photography... but here I am.
This is what I consider or call, my personal work. As a creative, we also have some kind of personal projects going on, or swirling around our heads. We have a genre or thing we love to photograph simply for ourselves. I have a laundry list of projects and ideas I want to execute and put together, and I'm sure I will check a bunch off of the list this year (I have to... it's getting too long).
So macro... I truly came upon this by accident. In a photography community I am a member of, we have courses taught by many photographers all over the world. I was watching a newborn workshop, and macro filters for prime lenses was mentioned. He put some on his lenses and showcased how he uses them for his newborn sessions, rather than having to swap out lenses for those detail shots.
I immediately hit the "add to cart" button, and once these babies arrived, I never looked back.
My macro images have been featured by this community and won a handful of contests. Now, that is never and has never been my goal with any of my art. But I'd be lying if I didn't admit, it felt amazing! I don't feel one ounce of shame for being proud of this work, and loving it with my whole heart. You will find many of my macro images framed in my own home. I have always found satisfaction and admiration in the small details of literally anything. Even in my painting, I focus so much on the details of things. Little things that most will not ever notice, that is where I spend my time and energy focusing on.
I have since created some new goals linked to my passion for macro art. A fine art macro photography book, a print shop and print products, as well as mixed media pieces for sale... just to name a few.
